Patients

The Institute of Mental Health is a highly specialized institution conducting hospital and non-hospital activities in the field of mental health care and promotion, adult psychiatry, developmental psychiatry, psychiatry of the elderly, addiction treatment, neuropsychiatry, epileptology, clinical neurophysiology and psychopharmacology. In addition to this, the Institute also conducts educational and publishing activities.

The Institute of Mental Health provides treatment to all citizens of the Republic of Serbia, and the minimum required documentation is:
– valid health insurance booklet
– referral for specialist examination issued by authorized Health Center medical staff
– for non-Belgrade patients, referral must be validated by the authorized committee.

Specialist-consultant examinations of patients are conducted every working day at two locations, at the Institute of Mental Health in 37 Palmotićeva St. and in 2 Paunova St., from 8:00 to 20:00h, without previous appointment, but with mandatory referral issued by a general practitioner for Belgrade city municipalities, or by a psychiatry specialist for other regions of Serbia.

Hospital (stationary) treatment of patients at the Institute of Mental Health is conducted in clinical departments (37 Palmotićeva St.) or in day hospitals (37 Palmotićeva St. and 2 Paunova St.) with mandatory referral by the regional health insurance fund and approval of hospital treatment. For hospital (stationary) treatment of children, facilities are available for their companions (parents or guardians), with mandatory referral by the regional health insurance fund and approval of hospital treatment for the companion.
