This month Wednesday Culture Club (WCC) will be hosting Merry Gospel Choir. The concert will take place on March 14th, at six o’clock in the afternoon, in the gala “Red” auditorium, on the 4th floor.

We invite all our in and outpatients, as well as employees of the Institute to come and enjoy in the performance of the Merry Gospel Choir.

Merry Gospel Hor is the first Serbian gospel choir founded in 2001 under the direction of conductor Marija Kuburic Borovic. From the very beginning of its work, the choir based its repertoire on the works of black spiritual and gospel music as well as the author’s songs of the same genre of young composers and singers. The choir counts about forty active members, and the original setting was international, since it was made by singers and lovers of gospel from all parts of the world – from England, America, Australia, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Portugal, all the way to Macedonia, Croatia and various areas of Serbia. The headquarters of the choir is in Belgrade where regular rehearsals take place. Soloists are members of the ensemble, and Merry Gospel Hor performances are accompanied by a band composed of pianos, organ, guitar, double bass and drum in the performance of professional musicians.

During the seventeen years of existence, Merry Gospel Hor performed at numerous festivals of spiritual music in the country and abroad, including Sombor music festivals, several feature-length concerts on the big stage of the Kolarac Endowment, the Osor’s Music Festival in Croatia, the Festival of Spiritual Music in Austria, the Summer Music Festival Kraljevo, Vreva Festival in Belgrade, Slobodan Bursać Choir Festival in Zrenjanin and solo concerts all over Serbia, as well as in the Jevrem Street street and on the plateau in front of the Belgrade City Assembly. In addition, the choir also records a large number of theater performances and humanitarian events, guest appearances on albums of eminent musicians, exhibitions, scientific gatherings and interdisciplinary projects, as well as cooperation with the museums of the city of Belgrade, Music Youth of Belgrade and guest appearances on Radio Belgrade and RTS . This unique Serbian choir has so far released three DVD editions of its performances at the Kolarac Foundation “Merry Gospel Hor – Live” (2006, 2008 and 2010) as well as an audio CD with numerous tracks of its repertoire and selected authorial songs.

Marija Kuburić Borović graduated from the secondary music school “Josip Slavenski” in Belgrade, section of the piano – class prof. Marta Shurev, graduated organ – class prof. Andrija Galun, Academy of Arts Novi Sad, MA in Sociology – Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade in 2010. She has advanced on many courses in the country and abroad. She is a permanent participant of the International Festival of Organism that is held every year in Belgrade. He is also the founder of the Merry Gospel Choir since 2001. Director of the association of citizens M-ART from Belgrade since 2006 when he founded it. He works as a piano teacher, a comparative piano and a korepetition at SMŠ “Josif Marinković” in Vršac.

Outpatients are required to leave their health card at the counter and to specify that they are going to the Wednesday Culture Club.
